Alexander C. Gellman, M.D., F.A.C.S.
Dr. Gellman was born in Florida in 1943. He received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers University in New Brunswick, New Jersey in 1965 and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College, Philadelphia, PA in 1969. He went on to complete his internship in 1970 at the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. He served as a Captain in the United States Army Reserve from 1971 to 1977. He then completed his residency in surgery in 1971 and in urology in 1974 at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, New Jersey Medical School, in Newark.
He was certified as a Diplomate of the American Board of Urology in 1976, Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1977, became a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons in 1978, and is an Affiliate of the Royal Society of Medicine since 1980. He has held academic appointments at the College of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, the New Jersey Medical School, Rutgers University, and the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.
Dr. Gellman has attended postgraduate courses at Columbia University, the American Urologic Association, New York University, Yale University, Beth Israel Hospital, Boston University School of Medicine, LSU School of Medicine, Harvard Medical School, Mt. Sinai Medical School, Tulane Medical Center, Jefferson Medical College, and Toronto General Hospital.
He is the author of over a dozen articles, some of which were co-written with Dr. Dershewitz. Dr. Gellman is also a member of the American Medical Society, The New Jersey Medical Society and other prominent medical societies. He is also a member of several hospital committees and since 1975 has taken part in numerous scientific exhibits and meetings. Dr. Gellman has completed several clinical studies.

Dr. Dershewitz was graduated with honors from Rutgers University, New Brunswick, New Jersey, in 1968. He received his medical degree with honors from the University of Medicine and Dentistry in 1972. His post graduate training was in surgery and urology at the University of Medicine and Dentistry and was completed in 1977.
Dr. Dershewitz was certified by the American Board of Urology in 1979 and admitted as a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons in 1980 and into the International College of Surgeons in 1980. He has held academic appointments at the University of Medicine and Dentistry as a clinical instructor in urology. He is presently a member of the American Medical Association and the New Jersey Urologic Society.
We are sad to announce the retirement of Dr. David Dershewitz in 2004 from the North Jersey Center for Urologic Care. Dr. Dershewitz served the area for over 25 years and he proved to be one of the top urologists in the region. We would like to wish him well in his retirement.
