Dr. Alexander Gellman
Dr. Gellman received his undergraduate degree from Rutgers-The State University in 1965 and obtained his MD from The Jefferson Medical College,
Thomas Jefferson University of Medical Sciences in Philadelphia in 1969.
His internship was served subsequently at the Polyclinic Hospital in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania on the University of Pennsylvania’s surgical service.
His residency in Urology was completed in 1974 at the New Jersey Medical School in Newark,
New Jersey which is now known as The University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ).
He successfully completed the examinations administered by the American Board of Urology and became a Diplomat in 1976.
Fellowship of the American College of Surgeons was obtained in 1977 and he became a Fellow of the International College of Surgeons in 1978 with affiliation of the Royal Society of Medicine (London) in 1980.
He has held academic appointments at UMDNJ and the Robert Wood Johnson School of Medicine.
Military service includes membership in the prestigious Association of the United States Army (AUSA) having received the National Medal of Merit in May 1960.
He was honorably discharged as a Captain in the United States Army Reserves in 1977.
He is the 4th Ward Councilman on the Rockaway Township Council since 2000 and is now Vice President of the Council.
Over the past 30 years he has taken post-graduate courses at Colombia University College of Physicians and Surgeons,
The New York University Post Graduate Medical School, Yale University, Boston University School of Medicine, Louisiana State University School of Medicine,
The Harvard Medical School, Washington University in St. Louis, The Mount Sinai Medical Center in New York, Tulane Medical Center, and The Cleveland Clinic.
He holds memberships in many diverse societies such as The American Medical Association, The American Urologic Association (New York Section),
The Academy of Medicine of New Jersey, The New Jersey Urologic Society, The Society of Surgeons of New Jersey, The Society of
Laparoendoscopic and Health Volunteers Overseas.
